Exhibit: Soothing Shots for Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital
This photo is a perfect example of why I carry my heavy DSLR on all of my hikes. I wasn't expecting any scenes of note on my hike but was pleasantly surprised to find these little succulents along the trail. I was practically lying on the ground (and getting ticks) to get this angle but it was worth it. This was taken on the trail to Lewis Spring Falls just south of Big Meadows in Shenandoah National Park. I took this photo in the late Spring of 2019.
The colors in the Fall of ‘22 were the best in recent memory and I visited the mountains frequently to enjoy them. I’ve explored much of the lower half of Shenandoah NP but had yet to take a photo that really captured the park as I see it. I had an idea of a shot that I wanted but did not know of a place to get it - so I went hunting for rocks...
“Evening Glow” is one of my favorite photographs, captured on Halloween night 2018. I went to Raven’s Roost in hopes that the holiday would keep the crowds away but there was a large group taking sunset pictures. Luckily, they all dispersed after the sun went down. Red Spruce Fog
This was the most photogenic hike on the east coast I may have ever been on. Taken on Red Spruce Knob, near Snowshoe Resort and Marlinton, West Virginia, it is part of the Highland Scenic Highway, a similar concept to the Blue Ridge Parkway with its scenic views and trail access. I highly recommend this area for a weekend trip along with stopping by the Green Bank Telescope.
A Moment with Mom
The photo was taken in Plitvice Lakes National Park in Croatia which is a series of lakes that descend into one another but rather than a river connecting each one, the water goes on many different paths flowing through forests and down cliffs to get to the next lake. This meant that there were many waterfalls everywhere ranging dramatically in size. I spent all day wandering the park, taking photos, and enjoying the scenery...
